He's offically ours!

Hey everyone!

We are doing great! Logan is a total riot! ALL boy. He is helping us to shatter most Chinese social norms. Going up the down escalator, swinging on those fancy red velvet ropes at the front desk and racing the kids everywhere. Look out Mali, Jake and Josiah! You guys are going to love his total lack of fear.

We went to the pool this afternoon, and little man just jumps right off the edge into the pool. Ok, I hear you....so? What's so great about that, he's six. Oh great, she's bragging already.(;

BUT... the kid has never been in a pool before! Thankfully he had on a swim vest, so he came back up and the look on his face was priceless. I had to turn around so he didn't see me laughing at him. Bart was right there, and just wanted Logan to see what happens when you just jump in.

Well, this morning started off early. We went to the Civil Affairs office at 8:30 to sign the official adoption paperwork, then we went to a dept. store to buy some smaller shorts and some smaller tennis shoes. No luck finding underpants....I don't think the kids wear them here. He didn't come with any, and I got funny looks when I asked for them. Actually, we are getting funny looks all over.

We were out for a walk this afternoon, and a woman with a baby came up to us. She spoke English very well, and said that she just had to ask if all of the kids were ours? We said yes, and she just laughed. Not sure it was a good laugh either.

But, Logan seems to be doing well. He is really into Michael and Bart. Ok with Livy and Mia, and not really into me at all. So, I am just taking things slow. I think I'm going to have a different attachment process this go. Mia is doing so well with this whole thing so far.
She has been such a trooper, very proud of her. I am sure she was made to be the littlest one, she even let Logan push her in the stroller today.

Well, I have a room full of hungry people. So, we are going to grab a cab and grab a bite.

Hope you enjoy the pictures, and hope all is well.

Love,
Claire and crew

It looks and sounds like he isn't going to have a problem putting up with the rest of the crew back here that is waiting to meet him :)
How is the communicating going, is he catching on quickly? Did they by any chance start to introduce any english to him? I loved the picture of him pushing Miss Mia and I thought he must be in otherwise he wouldn't be allowed anywhere near her stroller :) GO LOGAN!!!! Love you guys, now we just can't wait for you to come home so we can meet him in person.

Love,

Cheryl

Good morning Claire and Fam!!! I love seeing the new pics and hearing that all is going well! Yes, Logan looks like Mike is his bud, and Bart couldn't look happier in that picture of all of you! ;-)
Claire, Bekah didn't care for me AT ALL in most of China, but after about 2 weeks at home, she was ALL mine!!! I have been there, but I am thinking you would be much better at handling these initial feelings than I was... You are the best Mom, and it won't take him long to realize it at all!!!
We love you guys and we are praying for smooth bonding and wonderful memories!

YEAH!! YIPPEE!! YAHOO!! I am SO HAPPY I am about to burst. Go GOD! This is wonderful, and exciting and amazing, and truly just brilliant. He looks like he is adjusting well!

As for him bonding with you, just hang tight. He has had a life full of women (nannies and such) and probably not as many men. So he is loving that 'kind' of interaction, since he is obviously all boy. But you can bet your knickers that the moment he falls and bangs his knee, it will be YOU he wants to console him. He probably already knows you are way into him, so he isn't working so hard at that. Just you wait, he will be shadowing you too.

I love, love, love all the pictures. He is beautiful and handsome. He looks like he is having a blast. And what is up with HIM getting to push Mia in the stroller??? That is true love right there. They are all going to be fast friends.

Jake will be so excited to meet him (well, we ALL will) and have another fearless, crazy, break the mold kind of kid around. We are ecstatic for you!!'

Love you and miss you. Bunches!

Sounds like you got Mike's dream brother! What a cutie! Remember, Bart goes back to work when you get home and eventually he has to bond with you! That is what I kept telling myself with Claire in China. I would have loved some video of him jumping in that pool. Sounds like he is making up for lost time and trying to experience everything at once! Maybe the lady was laughing at the thought of anyone actually wanting 4 kids! Of course I wouldn't know anything about that!

Claire,

I am so happy to hear that things are going so well for everyone! Logan is the cutest little guy! He is just perfect for your family~ I can tell! Hang in there with the bonding. I'm preparing myself for another daddy's girl this time around. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, though. At least this time around we know it will come! Your 4 children are beautiful and just look like they all belong together. I love it!!!!

Glad that the male bonding thing is working across cultures...were you really surprised...they have hormones in common. This is so good for both Logan and Mike...and Bart. You will have your time.
And yeah for Mia...she is still the baby of the family.
Enjoy your time.

Oh it looks so wonderful to see your family!!! Logan looks like he's fitting right in. I see you went to the park across from the China Hotel. Our boys had a blast riding the rides with all the Chinese children! We didn't get to do the pedaling thing, ran out of time. It was the day we had to go for the official ceremony and we were out playing...

Sounds like a wonderful trip.

Love ya!

Thanks for taking the time to post and share pics! LOVE seeing your beautiful family all together!!! You know, I would imagine that Logan has hungry for time with men/guys...and he may be a bit leary of attaching to another woman right away. BUT, I have complete faith that his bonding with you with be especially sweet. You are an AWESOME Mom and he won't be able to resist letting you into his sweet heart! I'm SO proud of you and thrilled to see God working in such awesome ways! BTW-are you calling him Logan yet, or using his Chinese name for now? I'm curious if/when you talk to him about his new name. I'm SO glad to hear about Mia doing so well...what a cutie! Keep us posted on how to pray. Love you lots, Sweet Friend! Blessings to your entire family!!!

Marc, Elaine and Allison:

Do not worry; it's a "guy" thing and they need to bond. Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, etc., he will soon be an all American boy.

Michael: Please bring me home one of those cars.

Be safe and see you soon.
